The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

A decade after the release of the cult classic The Boondock Saints, fans of the film will finally see what happened to the McManus brothers after their reunion with their father. The first film ended with Connor and Murphy McManus being reunited with their long-lost father, and continuing their vigilante streak with him by their side. The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day picks up in Ireland where the brothers have been living in hiding with their father.

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is everything you'd expect it to be. It is awesome. Cant wait to see the third one, if there is one.

There are some truly funny scenes with some very original and witty lines, and there are some unexpected surprises as well. The action is good. Big shout out to Guy Ritchie, Quentin Tarantino and others. The cinematographer was good too.

To be honest, I think the editing sucked in the movie cos at some points, there was no transition. There are somethings that could be improved in this film. I think this movie would have worked better as a 90 minute action flick, but it was actually pushing the two hour line, and I believe that is a bit too long.

Basically the fans get a chance to oooh and ahhh over familiar characters (while creating some new ones), although most of the supporting players are gratingly stupid for the interest of cheap laughs. It's mindless fun though and for the most part, Duffy captures that.

The cast is all game, with Julie Benz being the sultry, fun to watch highlight and Nelson chewing scenery. Clifton Collin's wild-eyed Mexican sidekick character would be an example of grating though. If you loved the first one, you'll love this. If you were indifferent to it, then you'll be like me. And if you hated it, look elsewhere.

Fans of the first movie will definitely enjoy seeing this film and is a must see for any Boondock fanatic. Kudos to the cast and crew for making a film that stayed true to the original, yet realistically modernized it to reflect the years that have passed since the original release.

Sexy, smart and action-packed, All Saints Day was everything you want to see in a great flick, plus more. A great experience! Highly recommended, so GO SEE IT! You will not be sorry that you did.

The Boondock Saints II is a funny, cool, and maybe even though provoking look into the actions of two vigilantes.
Give this movie a shot.

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day
  • The men who played "the Saints" in the previous film return to their vigilante roles in this film. Few actors have reprised the role of vigilantes in R-rated adventure films. The few other prominent examples of actors returning in R-rated vigilante roles include Charles Bronson in the four Death Wish films, Robert Ginty as the Exterminator in _The Exterminator 2 (1984)_, and Arnold Vosloo in Darkman III: Die Darkman Die (1996) (V).

Gentlemen Broncos

An Instant Classic. ..

The latest quirky opus to come from the mind of Napoleon Dynamite creator Jared Hess, Gentlemen Broncos proves – if nothing else – has very similar reading habits in our youth, a shared love for pulpy and poorly written science fiction. Like all of his films, Gentlemen Broncos is a loving ode to eccentricity, a richly detailed nostalgia trip through a collection of beloved items and tropes from Hess’ formative years.

Gentlemen Broncos is just like it's name- a sophisticated, well-dressed animal that kicks naysayers repeatedly in several places. I wish I had the connections to be able to see it again right now. Thank you comedy Gods, for giving us Jared Hess.

A very specific film based entirely in a particular subculture of a particular era, Gentlemen Broncos will almost certainly present a radically different experience for those who themselves grew up within that subculture – as I did – and those who did not. Some may find it a little slow, a little flat, but for those of us who essentially were Benjamin at one point, it’s a loving flash back to the past.
Gentlemen Broncos was full of laugh-out-loud scenes, with comedy on every level, excellent performances, and a sneaky plot that Scorsese would have been proud of. Everyone in the audience seemed to love it, lingering to cite scenes to each other long after the film was over.
It's not just the chuckle-free writing or leaden pacing. Hess sprinkles a few real actors into a cast full of non-actors who recite lines rather than giving performances. He also makes sure that every last extra is homely or funny-looking, to the point of being misshapen. His is a world of freaks, who exist to be laughed at -- except there's nothing funny about them but their looks.
Hess has always had a particular genius for casting, a gift in full effect here, the film populated from top to bottom by players who capture his supremely odd aesthetic easily and naturally. Rockwell as Bronco / Brutus and Jemaine Clement (The Flight of the Conchords) get the big, flashy parts – and deliver big in them – but the rest of the cast is just as strong. And Hess also retains his love for small details and hand made effects that make the film a true joy to discover.
Gentlemen Broncos will appeal to those who thought "Napoleon Dynamite" was too conventional.

Aladin

A terrible waste of a terrific opportunity. Hugely disappointing!

Aladin starts with a bang, with the initial portions holding a lot of promise. But no sooner does the genie appears, he breaks into a song and you realize that Aladin is no different from those mundane films churned out week after week.
In accordance with a prominent line from the film “ Buri aadat badal daalo, Aladin ko maar daalo ”, director Sujoy Ghosh kinda kills the magic of the legendary fairy tale character in his contemporary adaptation of the Arabian Nights account. Certainly the inspiration is interesting but the execution tends to become formulaic.
Aladin promises the moon, but what you get is a mere flicker. This fantasy had the trappings to transport you to fantasyland, but... Seriously, Sujoy could've run his imagination wild and come up with a film that would've made the child in you jump, scream and clap with glee. But 15/20 minutes into the film and you realize that Aladin is merely a visual spectacle. A film that lacks soul!
Sujoy Ghosh's screenplay is bad, to put it bluntly. Given the kind of stars and budget at his disposal, the director should've come up with a slick entertainer, but Aladin comes across as a feeble clone of a poor Hollywood film. Like his last outing Home Delivery, this one too is high on gloss, but low on content.
Sadly, Aladin only slides downwards after this point. Sure, there're some interesting moments, but you can actually count those sequences. The problem is not with the story, but the screenplay (also penned by Sujoy Ghosh). It rests on absurdities. Okay, one expects absurdities in a fantasy, you can be pardoned for it, but at least they should have the power to keep you hooked. In this case, they don't!
The visual effects are excellent at places, but tacky at times. Vishal-Shekhar's music is strictly okay. However, too many songs in the initial reels act as roadblocks. The cinematography is top notch. Sabu Cyril’s art direction gives a fantasy feel to the hill-station town.
Aladin belongs to Riteish, who's easy on the eyes. The best part is, he looks the character and enacts it without going overboard. He's at his natural best here. Surprisingly, Amitabh Bachchan is over the top this time, which puts you off after a point. Sanjay Dutt has two standard expressions from start to end. Jacqueline Fernandez gets no scope, but she looks gorgeous nonetheless.

Ratna Pathak Shah is wasted. Ditto for Victor Banerjee. And what is a wonderful actor like Mita Vashisht doing in this film? Saahil Khan and Arif Zakaria are okay.

Aladin
  • And the Mystery of the lamp.
Aladin
  • Director 'Sujoy Gosh' was intending to make another film with 'Amitabh Bachchan' titled Boriwali. Amitabh felt it was too early for the director to take such an intense script. Then Sujoy suggested Aladin which was finally developed.
  • Amitabh Bachchan used his own wardrobe for a groovy track alongside Ritesh Deshmukh rather than using production costumes.
  • Sameera Reddy walked out of the project as she felt her role didn't hold much substance as narrated in the script and was replaced.
  • Whilst shooting Amitabh Bachchan injured his hand wrist, Amitabh ignored the incident and resumed his shooting, rather than canceling his shooting.
  • Due to Sanjay Dutt going in prison, rumor was spread that John Abraham would replace his role and re-shoot his scenes too.
  • Ayesha Takia was associated with the project in the initial production phase.
  • The film Aladin took 4 years to complete.
  • The first day of Aladin shooting was 21 Oct 2007.
  • Abhishek Bachchan was considered for the role of Aladin, Amitabh suggested that the Aladin creators take another actor as he is doing a few projects with Abhishek together.
  • The movies original producers were Ramesh Sippy and Rohan Sippy of Sippy films. They backed out of the project due to extraordinary budget and doubt of a fairly new director with one flop behind him: Home Delivery: Aapko... Ghar Tak (2005). Director 'Sujoy Gosh' was intending to produce the film Aladin himself but was unable to generate the money, hence Eros stepped in and produced the film Aladin.

London Dreams

Fails in its climax and music!

London Dreams is a complete departure from Vipul Shah's earlier outings Aankhen, Waqt, Namastey London. This film is about relationships and tends to get very real and intense, in the post-interval portions specifically. The scale of London Dreams is gigantic and the execution of concerts (it's about a band) sweeps you off your feet.
London Dreams borrows from Milos Forman's brilliant film Amadeus (1984), which was based on Salieri and Mozart's life. In fact, Suneel Darshan too had made a film based on Amadeus called Shakalaka Boom Boom.
Vipul Shah has handled this intricate subject well, but the writing could've been tighter. Sejal Shah's cinematography is super. Brownie points for capturing the concerts brilliantly. Salim-Sulaiman's background score matches international standards.
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's music is a downer. London Dreams is about a rock band, about music, about concerts and the music had to be the soul of the film. Unfortunately, it's not! The songs have been filmed in the most energetic fashion, but how one wishes the music was one of the strengths of the film.
The film could've concluded when the two friends re-unite at the station. Adding one more song thereafter only dilutes the impact of the emotionally correct sequence that has just been witnessed.
It's the second hour that does the trick. You can't help but carry several sequences in your heart, even after you've made an exit from the auditorium.
Both Salman and Ajay vie for top honours. Salman has a role that the junta would take to instantly and the actor too endears himself to the viewers. He's stupendous. When it comes to displaying intensity on screen, very few can live up to the standards set by Ajay. To state that he packs in a power-packed performance would be an understatement. They, in fact, compliment each other wonderfully well.
Asin is admirable and pairs off very well with Salman. She is sure to have a new name after this film - Chennai Express (that's how Salman addresses her affectionately, all through the film). Om Puri has a brief role. Aditya Roy Kapur is very good and registers an impact. Rannvijay Singh doesn't get much to do, except throw nasty looks at Salman. Manoj Pahwa provides some funny moments. Brinda Parekh is okay.
This film was originally planned over a decade back to be made by Rajkumar Santoshi with SRK and Aamir. Well, it may not star them now but makes for an excellent musical journey worth an experience in the big cinema hall.
London Dreams has superb performances from its principal cast and several emotionally-charged sequences as its two trump cards. But its biggest drawback is its climax and also the music, which is the weakest link of the movie.

London Dreams
  • Friendship... trust... passion... ambition... fame...
  • When your London Dreams come true for your best friend...
  • Two best friends... to fulfill a london dreams, one must sacrifice.
London Dreams
  • While shooting a song, Ajay Devgan, Asin, Rannvijay Singh and Aditya Roy Kapoor wanted to eat some Haagen-Daaz strawberry cheesecake ice cream. However, there were no Haagen ice cream stores around for nearly ten miles, and production was delayed while someone had to hunt for one to acquire the ice cream. To make up for this, the cast shared two tubs of the cheesecake ice cream with the technicians.
  • Cinematographer Sejal Shah filmed the cast and crew dancing while they were on break.
  • The first time in 10 years that Ajay Devgan and 'Salman Khan' are acting together as co-leads.
  • Director Vipul Shah conceived this project a decade before it finally started production, with Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan in mind for the respective roles of Manu and Arjun..
  • Liam Neeson paid a visit to the sets.
  • Asin, like her character Priya, studied Bharathnatyam dancing from childhood.
  • London Dreams is the second love triangle between Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan since Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999).
  • London Dreams is the first movie actor Ajay Devgan is being credited as "Ajay Devgn", based on the name change advice he has been given recently.

Samsung Corby S3653

After the huge success of Samsung Star & Star 3G Samsung India has launched another feature rich full touchscreen handset - The Corby S3653. It is an incredibly compact and likeable device which features a 2.8" QVGA capacitive touchscreen. The deisgn of Samsung Corby S3650 is very youthful and cheerful from the flashy-colored back panel to the sleek and smart looking front. Moreover, the rear panel can be easily replaced if you feel tired of the current color and the manufacturer has promised the phone will come with two extra panels, so you can personalize the color to suit your mood. This focus on cutting-edge design extends to the user interface through a Cartoon User Interface, a highly stylised graphical menu and wallpaper that adapts according to handset functionality

Aside from send and end keys, there is an interestingly shaped button located below the screen that gets you one step back into the menus. Unlike the high-end Samsung handsets, the Corby doesn’t have a multitasking menu. Moreover, it comes without 3.5mm jack and microUSB, so you charge the phone using the manufacturer´s proprietary port. A lot of communication options are available in Samsung. You can update your current status and access friends updates and live feeds via Facebook, MySpace and Twitter through a simple Pop-up SNS (Social Networking Service) notification feature. The handset also supports various community sites by integrating leading user-generated content sites such as YouTube, Flickr, Picasa and Photobucket and other popular SNS sites directly into the handsets user interface. You can also upload photos and videos to these sites through this Communities solution.

These are Samsung's own unique technologies that are incorporated in most of the company's premium full touch devices such as the Samsung Jet. One finger zoom enables consumers to zoom in and out with one finger while Smart unlock is a feature which enables users to unlock the phone and use the menu by drawing a letter on the screen.

- FM radio with RDS
- Find Music recognition service

Also camera has got no flash and autofocus. Overview - Chevrolet India's Flagship Sedan Is Here

Chevrolet India has shaked the D-Segment with the launch of its flagship sedan - The Cruze. It is expected that Cruze is going to beat the likes Skoda Laura, Volkswagen Jetta, Toyota Corolla Altis, Hyundai Sonata Transform & Honda Accord. Chevrolet has chosed the best time for the launch of Cruze which is around Diwali and wants to cash in this festive season.

Chevrolet India dont want to loose any customers in India and want to show that India is very important and special market for them especially after they have gone bankrupt in USA. After the launch of Cruze they will launch all new small car - Beat - which has already been launched in Korea as "Matiz Creative".

The Chevrolet Cruze is the first vehicle to use GM's revamped Delta 2 platform, an architecture that is also used on other GM small cars around the globe, including replacements for the Chevrolet HHR, Opel Zafira and its related siblings. The Cruze's bodywork carries a design vocabulary that is incorporated into all vehicles across the globe that carry the Chevy bowtie.

Design & Style Of Chevrolet Cruze

Chevrolet Cruze is seriously a looker - the best part is huge front grille which is in 2 portion dominated by Chevrolet's new logo in centre. Cruze's arching roof-line, extending from the steeply raked windshield to its sloping rear pillars and short rear deck, brings coupe-like proportions to a compact sedan.

Chevrolet Cruze features a dramatic re-interpretation of the traditional sedan featuring Chevrolet's new global design language that is becoming a signature on all new products carrying the gold bowtie. New Cruze is the result of a development process harnessing GM's global expertise and is the first of a new family of compact products that is expected to deliver world class quality.

Wider and longer than most of its competitors, Chevrolet Cruze has a purposeful stance with its wheels located at the outer edges of the tautly drawn bodywork. Noticeably tight body panel fits and a restrained use of exterior trim add to a high quality, 'hewn from solid' appearance. Chevrolet Cruze's dramatic profile is matched by bold front styling, with large headlamp housings that wrap around the front corners and sweep up, arrow-like, into the fenders and sculpted hood. Distinct Design Features Of Chevrolet Cruze includes Concave Shoulder Line, Dual Port Front Grille, Dynamically Shaped Headlamps, Chrome Finished Door Handles, 'Wheels-Out/Body-In' Stance and 'Twin Cockpit' Design Motif.

Interiors & Comfort Features Of Chevrolet Cruze

The interior is well-proportioned and the sculpted seats offer good support. It's surprisingly quiet in the cabin too which is a good indicator of build quality. The interiors appear very attractive with dual tone beige dashboard and leather covered upholstery. It's stylish dashboard that is packed with lots of advanced instruments and beige upholstery makes it interior more stylish. The Cruze oozes quality, even down to well chosen instruments - including those that have come from the much more expensive Vauxhall Insignia. There shouldn't be any reliability issue to speak of and the use of soft touch materials throughout should mean there's less chance of creaks and rattles.

All the models of Cruze will be packed with advanced integrated Blaupunkt RDS Radio/CD player with MP3 CD capability with Six CD Changer audio system with six integrated speakers that offer high class entertainment. Its advanced audio system will be available with MP3 Auxiliary Input Jack and with USB Socket to connect devices like pen drive, mobile phones etc. The audio controls will be mounted on steering wheel so that there will be no need to distract your eyes from road to operate audio system.

Ride & Handling Of Chevrolet Cruze

The front wheels of Cruze will be packed with large ventilated disc brakes while its rear wheels will be packed with solid drum brakes. Its larger diameter disc brakes de-accelerate the car quickly. ABS (Antilock Brake System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution) resists car to skid out of control in case of emergency braking.

Although GM engineers claim that they have been able to optimize this design for both accurate handling and a comfortable ride, it's surprising that the Cruze doesn't feature independent rear suspension like the global Ford platform used for the Mazda 3.

Engine Of Chevrolet Cruze - 2 Litre VCDi Diesel Engine

For time being Chevrolet India has launched Cruze with diesel engine and manual transmission only, which is a 1991cc 4 Cylinder VCDi diesel engine. This engine generates maximum power of 148 Bhp at 4000 rpm and maximum torque of 327 Nm @ 2600 rpm.

It is expected that Chevrolet will also launch Cruze in petrol which will be powered by a new 1.8 litre petrol engine. There will also be a option of 6-speed automatic transmission. May be they want to add another launch along with the Chevrolet Beat for the 2010 Auto Expo which will be held from 5th January at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

Fuel Consumption/Mileage Of Chevrolet Cruze

Chevrolet Cruze is expected to return around 17-18 kmpl on highway and 13-14 kmpl in city driving conditions. The company claims that the car would give a mileage of 18.3 kilometre per litre, according to the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) standards.

Safety Features Available In Chevrolet Cruze

Active safety features includes Dual Front SRS Airbags that offers safety in case of collision, ABS (Antilock Brake System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution), Front Ventilated Disc Brakes, Electronic Stability Control.

Passive safety features includes Side Impact Beams, Height Adjustable Front Seatbelts, Front Seatbelts with Pretensioner, 3x3 Point Rear Seatbelts, Warning Lamp for Driver Seatbelt, Front Seatbelt Reminder, Height Adjustable Headrest with Tilting Function, Knee Protector, ISOFIX Child Seat Restraint System (2nd row outer rear), Child Locks and Central Locking.

And now Tata has launched the next gen model of Indigo which has been christened "Tata Manza" which is expected to increase the overall Tata sales in mid to luxury car segment.

Design Of Tata Manza - Conventional But Smart Looking

The nose of Tata Manza retains the Indica’s sweeping angular headlights, but the design inside the headlight is different from Indica Vista. Indigo Manza's headlights are more bold looking with dual projector barrel shaped reflectors. Also the turn indicators are well integrated in the headlights. It features the same bold looking central crease line on the bonnet which gives character to the car. The side turn indicators are mounted on the door alongside the rear view mirror like Indica Vista. The front bumper of Indigo Manza features a big air dam which is finished in black shade which also consists of round fog lights which give Tata Manza very broad look and feels like a big car.

The front grille of Tata Manza consists of four horizontal lines which is dominated by big Tata logo and chrome finish upper lip which looks very familiar - nothing new here. The top model of Tata Manza features full chrome grille. Rear of Tata Manza is the best looking part with vertical tail lamps which looks quite striking and lends it a classy look. Though the size of tail lamp is very huge and may not appeal to everyone. The rear bumper of Manza is plain with chrome strip running across it, which gives it a very wide and big car look. tough the chrome inserts on the rub rails and outer door handles add that touch of class. The new rear monolithic angular shaped tail lamps give the profile an unmistakable noticeability for following cars.

The boot of Tata Manza looks well integrated and part of the sedan unlike the current generation Indigo in which boot looks like a add-on. All models comes with smart looking matt finish full wheel covers though I expected alloy wheels for the top models. It also features a wide chrome deck lid like we have on the Swift Dzire and New Ikon Ikool. Also it comes with chrome strips on front and rear bumpers with body colored side moulding on doors. The B-pillars of Tata Manza have been blacked out to give it a feel of big cars like we have seen in Fiat Linea, Chevrolet Aveo and Honda City.

Interior & Comfort Features Of Tata Manza

Tata Manza has spacious right inclination rear seats with a center armrest, rich two tone fabric, tilt adjustable power steering with a height adjustable driver seat, electronically adjustable and controlled Outer Rear View Mirrors. The driver information system on top of the central console provides information on fuel consumption and ambient temperature. A 2 DIN Music System offers connectivity with a USB port and Bluetooth connectivity through the Blue5. The audio controls of the music system are mounted on the steering wheel, for ease of access while driving. The trunk has a capacity of 460 litres to meet every need of travel.

The wheelbase of Tata Manza which stands at 2520mm, is longer than the current gen Indigo. Indigo Manza feature many high end features to give a up market look. Tata Manza features steering mounted audio controls, dash integrated music system, dual SRS airbags, high quality fabric seat covers and electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors. First, it was expected that the dashboard design of Tata Manza is going to be similar like the Vista’s but Tata Manza's instrument cluster is behind the steering wheel unlike Vista's instrument cluster which is mounted in the centre of dashboard. Tata Manza also features centrally mounted MID (Multi Information Display) for the driver like we have seen in Hyundai i20 and other segment leaders.

With all these features in the top model Aura+ of Tata Manza the company wants to compete with the likes of Hyundai Verna, Maruti SX4 and Ford Fiesta. But in comparison to all these cars Tata products are low on quality, fit and finish. But Tata want to change all this with the launch of Indigo Manza and set new standards in terms of features, quality, ride quality. The base model Manza Aqua is going to compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki's Swift Dzire, Ford's Ikon, and Mahindra Renault's Logan.

Engine Options In Tata Manza - Quadrajet90 Diesel & Safire90 Petrol

The petrol engines are configured using a Continuous Variable Cam Phaser, which smartly adjusts valve timings and intervals for power delivery. In addition, the electronically controlled Intelligent Port Resizer (IPR) function in the Safire engine delivers a perfect balance of power and economy. The Quadrajet diesel engine features a Variable Geometry Turbocharger for smoother running and an aluminum bedplate along with superior insulation that reduces NVH levels while delivering a superior power to weight ratio. The Drive by Wire technology virtually eliminates all “throttle lag” leading to a faster, smoother response. Tata Indigo Manza is available in both petrol and diesel. Both the engines have been picked from Fiat's stable and are mated to 5-Speed manual transmission.

- Quadrajet 90, 1.3 Litre, 89 Bhp - 200 Nm, Diesel
- Safire 90, 1.4 Litre, 89 Bhp - 116 Nm, Petrol

The Qudrajet90 diesel engine of Manza develops maximum power of 89 Bhp at 4000 rpm with maximum torque of 200 Nm at 1750 rpm. This reliable and fuel efficient Multijet diesel engine has been a major hit among car manufacturers. Like Tata Manza it also powers many hatchbacks and sedans in India like Maruti Swift Dzire, Maruti Swift, Maruti Ritz, Fiat Linea, Fiat Palio and Fiat Punto. The Safire90 petrol engine generates maximum power of 89 Bhp at 6000 rpm with maximum torque of 116 Nm at 4750 rpm.

Ride & Handling Of Tata Manza - New Suspension System To Improve Ride Quality

Tata Manza uses a twist beam suspension at the rear like Tata Indica Vista on which it is based. While, the old Indigo model featured independently sprung suspension. The damping rates are different from the Vista’s suspension to accommodate for the extra weight of the boot and the better ride comfort levels that the saloon car owner demands.

At low speeds, the ride of Tata Manza is absorbent due to the softer suspension settings, but at higher speeds, it doesn’t have that ultimate ride and handling mix like the Fiat Linea. It’s a family car, so you shouldn’t expect too much by way of handling. Still, it surprises by having decent front-end grip and though there’s some body roll, there’s nothing overtly wrong with the way it handles.

What To Expect From Tata Manza...??

Tata Indigo Manza is very important for the company because its Indigo’s sales have fallen sharply in the last two years. In the first 6 months of 2009, they have sold only 16,000 units of Indigo versus 49,000 units last year. So, Tata Motors wants to get back into C-Segment where earlier it had dominance. Tata Indigo Manza has the latest technology, better interiors, and more spacious, luxurious and bolder styling etc from inside. It was also expected that Tata is going to discontinue/phase out all the variants of current generation Indigo but they have discontinued only the Basic Indigo models. Overview - Upgraded Engine + Minor Facelift + Automatic Variant Option

Maruti had launched Maruti SX4 in May 2007 to compete with the likes of Honda City which is the most popular and successful sedan in its segment. Maruti Suzuki was the first automobile company to introduce class leading premium features such as air-bags, steering-mounted audio controls, auto climate control, glass antennae and many others in an A3 segment car for customer benefit. The tradition continues in the new SX4 with the company bringing in advanced VVT technology, which has so far been used only in the luxury SUV, Suzuki Grand Vitara.

But Maruti SX4 could not compete with City's superior technology and brand image. At the time of launch SX4 has been very well recieved by indian customers, as it was a true value for money sedan which comes fully loaded with all the features at a very affordable price. But with the launch of 2009 model of Honda City, the sales of SX4 started to decline.

Now Maruti Suzuki India is back with new improved SX4 to make the deal better in comparison to Honda City, Ford Fiesta, Chevrolet Aveo & Hyundai Verna. They have plonked new 1.6 VVT engine in SX4 so that it complies with the strict emission norms which will be in effect from April, 2011 in 11 cities in India. The new engine is a 1600cc VVT(Variable Valve Timing) powerplant producing 104 Bhp which is 2 Bhp up from previous 102 Bhp. Maruti has also given some cosmetic design upgrades to the exterior and interiors to make it look more muscular and smart in comparison to Fiat Linea and Honda City.

8 Additions & New Features Of Maruti SX4

1) Upgraded 1.6 Litre engine with VVT head which now develops 104 bhp. It also meets the Bharat IV norms.
2) All New Brown/Beige Interiors plus option of leather interior in ZXi variants.
3) USB Input for the Dash Integrated Music System - only in ZXi variants
4) Wooden finish door console for power window buttons and control of rear view mirrors.
5) Flush fitting central rear seat arm rest - but surprisingly without cup holders
6) New Honeycomb Grille - looks much better than the grille of outgoing model
7) New 10 spoke 16" alloy wheels - but the 5 spoke design was more muscular and sppealing
8) Automatic Transmission Option - only in Zxi variants

Design & Style Of New Maruti SX4

Designed by Guigiarro and ITAL Design, it was actually developed as a crossover whose platform is shared by Fiat and Suzuki. A lot of crossover is visible in the New SX4's styling. The massive wheel arches have been built to accommodate new 16" 10 Spoke alloy wheels with high-profile tires. Other macho features of New SX4 are tall upright windscreen, massive widescreen mirrors and the upright seating position of the passengers.

Apart from the oversized wheels which look out of proportion, the design of New Maruti SX4 is well balanced. The headlights wrap around onto the fenders, there are big front wheel arches and the integration of the rear of New SX4 is well executed and in line with the design of the nose as well. A stylistic touch is the way the front quarter glass dips down into the beltline.

The Front of New SX4 features large, elongated wrap-around style, clear-lens headlamps, a muscular bonnet slab and a compact bumper that features matching design lines greet the onlooker at the front. New SX4 also features all new honeycomb grille finished in black matte shade. An air dam, twin fog lamps and a two-slatted grille in the middle with chrome lipping and chrome Suzuki logo round-off the front side of New Maruti SX4. It sports an unconventional design and is built to offer the look and drive feel of a crossover vehicle.

The extended wheelbase, the short overhangs, the mildly cab-forward design, the raised ground clearance, the large glass area, the oversized tail-lamp cluster and the lower wedge in the A-pillar quarter glass are reminiscent of Maruti's focus on offering practical features that will be able to better handle Indian usage pattern and road conditions. At the rear of New SX4, the tail-lamps dominate the stubby, nearly notch-back style boot lid. Reflectors integrated into the rear bumper and a third stop lamp offer additional safety. SX4's overall fit and finish quality has been benchmarked to European standards and so its design is unaltered, panel gaps and shut lines are tight and the paint job is superb.

Interiors & Comfort Features Of New Maruti SX4

The interiors of New SX4 are more or less same like the outgoing model with minor changes which includes new upholstery for seats and new gear lever in automatic variant. Also an option of USB support has been added in the dash integrated music system. Also New is Wooden finish door mounted power window console. But overall the interiors of SX4 feel a little bit cramped with less rear leg room and small rear windscreen. Front seat headrests are very big in size and the distance between the seats is also very less. Leather seats are optional in the top-end ZXi variant; it also comes with a neatly integrated in-dash music system as part of the standard package.

Automatic air-conditioning with attractive matt-silver dials and steering-wheel-mounted controls for the music system are also part of standard fitment in the ZXi variant. The pair of brushed chrome strips that straddle the central console looks good and the chromed air con controls also look and function well. It is obvious there are a lot of bits carried over from the Swift on the insides as well, stuff like the steering wheel, power window buttons, air con vents, some switchgear and the gear stick. The electric mirror adjuster knob feels particularly tacky. A nice touch, however, is the fact that there is space to store a bottle in all four door pockets and that this car can be bought with leather seats. In terms of equipment, the New Maruti SX4 is really good.

Engine, Mileage & Ride Quality Of New Maruti SX4

Last Gen SX4 was powered by 1586cc, 4 cylinder petrol engine with developed maximum power 102 Bhp with maximum torque of 154Nm. The New engine is a 1600cc VVT(Variable Valve Timing) powerplant producing maximum power of 104 Bhp at 5600 rpm with maximum torque of 145 Nm at 4100 rpm. ARAI has also announced the mileage figures of new SX4 - the manual version willl return 15.5 kmpl while the automatic variant is expected to return 12.5 kmpl.

The VVT or Variable Valve Timing allows the timing of the intake valve to be changed while the engine is in operation, thereby ensuring that there is never a shortage or wastage of power. This leads to improved engine efficiency, optimized fuel consumption and lesser carbon emissions. With the advanced VVT technology, the car starts, accelerates and climbs steep slopes better. In essence, the technology is an intelligent system leading to a smoother, more luxurious drive and better mileage.

Maruti SX4's suspension setup is too stiff to be comfortable on low and high speeds. Low-speed ride is a touch lumpy over small undulations and you sometimes can feel the additional unsprung mass of those large tyres. Grip is fantastic from the wide tires and you can carry a fair amount of speed into corners, but the SX4 is nothing if not fidgety. There is massive torque steer tugging at the steering wheel from left to right as you floor the throttle. The SX4's inconsistent steering feedback keeps the driver on alert as you have to constantly make little corrections.

Variants & Price Of New Maruti SX4

Maruti has launched New SX4 in five variants - SX4 VXi, SX4 ZXi, SX4 ZXi Leather, SX4 ZXi Automatic & SX4 ZXi Leather Automatic. The extra features in ZXi in comparsion to base model VXi are Dual SRS airbags, Alloy Wheels, ABS (Anti Lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution), Audio system controls on steering wheel, Front fog lights, Body colored door moulding, Automatic control system and Silver finish interior door handles. The ZXi leather variants have leather clad steering wheel, gear knob and leather seat covers.

The Automatic variant has same features like the ZXi variant - the only difference is that it comes with 4-speed automatic transmission. A cluster of computer controlled sensors constantly manage the throttle input and optimize the engine response accordingly, thus requiring no changing of gears. The overdrive mode in the Automatic Transmission provides additional power on the tap, whenever needed.

What To Expect From New Maruti Suzuki SX4

Overall SX4 is a great car, is very well equipped, is good looking and fun to drive. And it is expected that the New SX4 is going to increase the bar further with more powerful engine and enhanced looks. Maruti Suzuki has also launched automatic variant of New SX4 to compete with the likes if recently launched New Honda City's Automatic "V" variant. Maruti has signed Bollywood actor John Abraham as the brand ambassador of the revamped Maruti SX4. John Abraham appeals to both young men and women, who is also the target audience for the SX4.
